Mudcat used to announce tribe games on the radio. When he was in the booth, he would have a fishing net to try and catch foul balls. A very interesting fellow.

By the way, the NYT obit on Mudcat referenced this 1968 SI Frank DeFord piece on Mudcat. If you haven't read the late DeFord you should treat yourself to one of his many books. The guy could plain write. Yes, I'm jealous! I haven't read this piece yet BUT I am looking forward to it. I hope this cut and paste works. Enjoy.
