Hi jingram - What you're missing is that all the other listings you're seeing are way overpriced. If you want a realistic view of the market, you have to look at prices from actual sales, not eBay asking prices.
eBay completed sales can be helpful, and there are a few sites such as vintagecardprices.com that have historical sale data for graded cards. Not all of it is accurate or reliable, but you can't judge market value by asking prices. Recent eBay completed sales show similar-condition raw commons in the $35-80 range, and a recent SGC 4 Mack at $600.
