Are these two together a set? These two cards have the same signature on the front, and back that discusses his record. I blew up the back so you could read it. There may be another pose available, but I'm not sure.

The assumption on those is that they were souvenirs from JLS's many performances and appearances. He sold a lot of "merch". I guess you could call them a set.
My favorite 'set' is the H815 Adam Hats premiums. Why? I dunno, I just like 'em ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Over on the baseball side of net54baseball, it's not unusual to have passionate debates about when a particular set of pre-war cards was issued. That is not the case with this multi-sport set. These cards were issued weekly. Each individual card has an issue date printed on the back; month, day and year! In addition, it will tell you what card will be issued next week.
The long ago forgotten ebay seller told me that the boxing set was complete at 15 pugilists. I guess I believe him. The first 13 cards are numbered between 1 and 20. The remaining two are numbered 42 and 59. Card #1 was issued on Jan 28th 1922. Card #59 was issued on March 10th 1923 and proclaims that next weeks card will be "Another famous footballer, F. Walden." So, no idea how many total cards. Based on these card backs, other sports represented were football (soccer), cricket and swimming. Actually, I have a swimmer card of a guy that looks like a heavyweight boxer! Maybe my seller confused him for a boxer and included him. Compared to baseball cards issued of the time period, the photo quality is pretty nice. Last edited by Jerry G; 06-09-2021 at 07:25 PM. |

Adam, that was some great timing on your N269 Lorillard's post. Just yesterday, I watched a show on the Discovery Channel called Blood Feuds. Season 1, Episode 1 was all about Bill Poole and John Morrissey. Believe it or not, the show followed along with the back of he cards. The cards and the show are awesome!
Episode 2 is about the Hatfields and the McCoys. Looking forward to that. Last edited by Jerry G; 06-10-2021 at 06:58 AM. |
