Jimmy Dykes from a set (W574) that is both odd and interesting. I have included an extra large back scan because...I don't know what I am doing around a scanner.

Papo Gonzalez
Eusebio M. "Papo" Gonzalez. Papo appeared in three games with the 1918 AL pennant-winning Boston Red Sox, but did not appear in the World Series. He has the distinction of being the first Cuban player to play for the Boston Red Sox. Gonzalez has a career .400 bating average (2-for-5) with a triple and 2 runs scored. The team's lack of interest in keeping a rookie with a .400 batting average has led to questions regarding whether Papo's complexion was too dark for the Boston of the time. https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1620296712 |
