There are at least 3 known original surviving photographs of the 1908 Old Timers Game which were taken by Carl J. Horner. Albert Spalding traveled 3000 miles by train from Ca in order to attend the game and had John Morrill of the the New York A. G. Spalding & Bros. store to have a brand new white uniform made up for him to wear in the game. There are also a few surviving score card / programs from the game.

.
To be honest, before recognizing that this photo was in a recent auction and had notation regarding "Jesse Burket" on back, my first guess was that the mystery ballplayer was Detroit coach Jimmy Burke. But quickly ruled that out since the mystery ballplayer appears to be nearly as tall as the 6-foot Moriarity, yet Jimmy Burke is only 5'-6". As for the uniform, could be possible that it is from either a minor league or college team. Jesse Burkett was affiliated at one time with Louisville Colonels. But Louisville team photo from 1916 does not resemble the one worn by the mystery player. |

Do you realize that the panoramic pic from 1922 showing players from the previous century is tantamount to having an Old Timers Day today in 2021 showing the guys who played in the 1990's?? That just strikes me as entirely weird for unknown reasons.

That is pretty funny. Also the 1908 reunion photo, the oldest player in that might be in their early 60s simply because some were actually around from the beginning

Makes us all feel really old, but a player from 1990 is likely at least in his mid-late 50s now. Even though old timers in my 47 year old mind should mean guys from the 1960s or 1970s, those guys are likely 70-80 years old now and not looking to play too much ball. So, that old timers game with guys from the 1990s probably is what would end up happening now!
