Thanks Hank. PM6 isn't covered in Paul Muchinsky's book. I also have a copy of "Non-Paper Sports Collectibles" by Hake/Steckler. It's not there either.

When I saw the pin listed, I struggled to find any details about it. That's partly what got me interested. A Google image search brought me to the pre-war cards page.

There are 8 pins in the set. As you mentioned....no commons.
  • Grover Alexander
  • Ty Cobb
  • Bucky Harris
  • Rogers Hornsby
  • Walter Johnson
  • Babe Ruth
  • George Sisler
  • Tris Speaker

I could only find one other PM6 listing for sale https://ebay.us/iV3Hqy
There are no sold listings and only 12 PM6 pins ever graded at PSA.

If anyone has any other info, I'm keen to learn more.

How's the back on yours? I'd guess I've seen more with serious rust or acidification problems on the back (and sometime coming over onto the front) than were fairly clean like that Sisler (which seemed to me be listed at a very reasonable price considering how they've dried up over the years and how much rarer they are to begin with than P2s, which are at a comparable price for the HOFs, I would say.

I don't think the back on my Grover Alexander is too bad.

It's not, in fact it looks like it might even clean up some, though I would never attempt that. I've seen many that were much worse. I'd love to know what the story is on the horrific condition of so many of the PM6 backs, also if there was ever a paper label on them, though I'd guess not since I've never seen one. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

I found a great pin for sale at an auction that's out of my price range but thought someone here on Net54 might be interested in it. It says "SCORE AGAINST HITLER - LIFT BAN ON NEGRO PLAYERS". It's being offered by Anderson Americana auctions. Here is the link to the listing: http://anderson-auction.com/Score_Ag...LOT170503.aspx

Good luck if you decide to bid on it!!

This lot arrived in the mail today.

I bought this as a set to get the PR3 Orbit Pins and the PM8 DiMaggio PM3 but the Drenks Packers and the boxing PM10s were a nice bonus.

If there are any boxing collectors, I'm happy to let the Joe Louis and Ezzard Charles PM10s go.

Default No-hitter pinback collection update

It's been a minute since I posted my no-hitter pinback framing project and I thought I would send an updated look.

I've added a few pricier pinbacks including Frank "Noodles" Hahn (1st no-hitter in the 20th century).
I also made a decision to have fantasy pinbacks of a few of my favorite pitchers in order to fill the gaps where no issued pinbacks were ever produced.

Obviously, I needed to add Vandy and Virgil Trucks, both of which pitched 2 no-hitters in the same year, 1938 and 1952 respectively.
I also liked the Koufax blue fantasy pinback because it was well done...

Enjoy!

I just realized I think I have a 60 something yogi Berra Mets pin.

Need to find it and if I do I will post the picture here

I believe it is a 1965 Go Mets Go Pin

I believe the only reason why I have this pin is because I was a Yogi fan and I was doing a trade for that Honus Wagner Ronsen Lighter from approx 1913 and this was "thrown in" to even out the trade values

This was the Wagner piece (previously shared in a different post)

That's an Aronson Match Striker. Have never heard that it was attributed to representing Wagner. But I have seen the piece in a few auctions, portrayed as a Babe Ruth piece (probably erroneously).

I think that in reality, it is just a cartoonish Batter depiction that's generic in nature. Quite tough to find in decent condition, especially complete with its striker at the top. The Base Plate is often missing as well. That's just a terrific early Baseball Figural piece.

Sorry to get off-topic.... back to Pins!
