I mean no offense, and everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, but can you do me a favor and stop the first 500,000 people walking into a baseball stadium this year and ask them if they've ever heard of Sherry Magee? I'm guessing you'd have a hard time finding 5 people who have. And those 5 are likely board members.

That is true but I think it's also true of a guy like Pete Browning or Dummy Hoy and they're both hobby staples.

Like Hamilton Tigers and Montreal Maroons vintage?
I saw a pretty one DavidBVintage had up. I really like raw cards, but was considering the plunge because it was of a player from a defunct team. |

Buy a Bo Jackson 1986 Topps Tiffany card, PSA 9. It's a beloved iconic card with tremendous sentimental appeal among a certain generation collector. One of those "I fell in love with cards because of that card" cards. I think Bo's story and legend will only grow over time. Yes, his career was short and his stats limited, but when people talk about some of the stuff he did in that short time period it's almost Mantle-esque.

That's why I collect them. Borderline HOF player with an interesting story. Often found for $20. Good long term investments for the price, especially if he gets voted in.
That being said, I also got a extensive Bill Donovan and Joe Wood collection, hoping for the same thing. Worse case you get a 100+ year old card that steadily increases in value. Quote:
