Default Grading

What I did prior to the price increases (and I guess it still applies) for cards like what you mentioned was only send cards I thought could get a 10. Then assume each will get a 9. Will the 9 graded card minus 20%+/- sell for more than the grading expenses? If so, I would probably grade it.

Then hope you get a few tens which will offset the cards that get grades lower then 9.

That’s the simple rule of thumb I use. Others may disagree.

Good luck!

I think Dan is spot on. But with the grading increase AND the tougher standards they seem to be using... good luck.

I'd recommend getting a 10x magnifying glass and finding a well-lit spot to sit and really LOOK at the cards individually. It'll take a little time, but you'll be amazed by how many cards you end up dismissing after a quick glance.

With the prices the grading companies are charging, it's well worth the time to sift out the cards that don't have a legit chance to be 9's and 10's.
