Centering is off obviously not not a bad looking 3. Probably ends 20k+. Ruth is hot, prices are still low compared to Jackie, Mays and others.

I picked up the yellow, green, and red last year. Shattered a vcp record each time. They all look like steals now. And are still undervalued.

Agreed. I remember when I went to a 12k bid on that 4.5 yellow that you wound up winning— I made a rare mistake hewing far too close to past sales data, and should have bid way more. Made sure not to err the same way when the next one I liked came into the crosshairs.

These four Ruth cards are such classics and tend to stay in collections as beloved centerpieces. Their popularity with collectors and investors alike is just off the charts. They've increased in price yet I agree still could go much higher. And boy is that red #149 a beast to find with some eye appeal. Hence why I took my lumps bidding to win the 4 at Heritage last week.

There’s a 3 right now in the BST. I nearly choked when I saw the asking price of $30k.

Regret selling the ones I had last year. Agree with the comments of the Goudeys being undervalued especially compared to others. Much lower pops, iconic set and not to mention the GOAT. Those three things alone should put these 5x10 higher than any mantle, Robinson, mays, Cobb. He’s the jordan of baseball and should command huge premiums over others.

Pete - good sleuth work. I see it.

Why did it get a 3?
Card looks sharp (aside from the, ya know, surface distraction).

I’m shocked at how expensive these things have gotten.

I remember before I was married at a card show in the early 2000's, having the opportunity to buy a PSA 1 Goudey Ruth for like $700. I didn't do it, though I had spent similar money at the time for things like an upper midgrade Aaron RC. Oh well, they say hindsight is 20-20.

I lucked out same era, probably 2001, scored both the green background and batting Ruths for roughly $750 on a single eBay auction. Think they were poorly listed/photographed, and had the "found in the attic" type description that many avoid. However also seemed like there were so many more of them back then, and probably far fewer eyes searching for them, so things actually could slip through the cracks. The 144 was raw reviewed a 2 by Beckett at a card show, the green is still raw, but similar condition wise.
