Pushing the pre-war envelope but I think Big Six qualifies. Fun little pick-up.

Great centering and contrast on that Collins-McCarthy.

This one really caught my eye at Heritage due to its deep color and just overall crispness for the grade. Also at last completes the quartet.

Wow, congrats! That is a beautiful Goudey. I tried in vain to land the #144 SGC 4, it had really nice eye appeal, but once again it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks, guys. Chad, that was a good looking 144— bummer you did not reel it in; I had been oh-fer on last several swings myself before last night. Yet the good thing with cards is that constant feeling that the one that is meant to be is right around the corner!

I was wondering were this ended up. I saw it on ebay and was debating grabbing it but it sold before I could make up my mind. Glad it ended up with some one else on net54! Congrats on the pick up!

I was really losing steam on my quest to complete my '33 Goudey set with about 70 cards to go when, much to my surprise and happiness, the REA February auction appeared with a set break right in my grade range that included a number of cards with great eye appeal. Here is my take fresh out of the box from REA today (who are world class and a pleasure to deal with). I may not get the Ruths for a while (or ever), but I feel well on my way now.

Great pickups and nice eye appeal. Hopefully you can complete the set.

Thanks! In truth they aren't all beauties, some were good enoughs, but I was really happy with the results overall. My goal for now is 233 cards, 240 minus the 4 Ruths, the duplicate Gehrig and Foxx cards, and #106. I need just 28 more.

Nice pickups, SD! The Hack Wilson is absolutely one of my favorite cards in the entire set. Love that pose!

I used to think that the card did not do Wilson any justice, and made him look cartoonish, until I saw this article years ago.

Seven years ago, you could’ve potentially owned the original photo from which the card was based. The anticipated price was just $200.00 to $400.00 - a bargain today and even in 2014. Wonder what the actual hammer was?

I was more stoked on The HunchHack then the 35. Something about Babe on the Braves makes me sad.

Matt, nice Ruth!! I love the colors on it.

I was happy to pick this up in Heritage this past weekend. When I first saw it I knew right away that I had to have it

Great pickup! I felt the same way and kept going back and forth with my wife on how much I was allowed to bid on it. She ultimately left it at "I trust you" which we all know the true meaning of and why you got it.

Default 2 Recent, local finds.

Something about a raw Goudey. The real way a card should feel.
