I think when a pkg of GAI x-over cards arrives at PSA, bells, whistles go off, lights flash off and on, and a loud PA repeatedly screeches: REJECT! REJECT!
REJECT! I kid, not by much. Think your chances of getting a PSA grade are better if you submit raw. |

I've purchased 4 GAI cards for my collection, mainly because they were cheaper than their PSA equivalents. Three of them were marked "First Graded" so I have guarded faith, with the help of a ruler, that they're fine. I understand why they were lesser in price, but they're for my collection and I'm not worried about their investment potential or crossing them over to another grading company.

Since I'm a collector, I'm trying to get the best looking card I can at the lowest price possible. I bought all of these cards raw many moons ago from many reputable dealers and had 'em slabbed by good ol' GAI back in the early days. I couldn't give 2 hoots what the number on the slab is - I just like the reassurance that they are authentic as determined by a third party. I know that no one wants to hear it, but maybe just maybe, one or two cards that GAI graded are in fact, unaltered.

I crossed these over years ago, submitted in the slab. The Bancroft is no longer mine. FWIW, I requested any numeric grade (no minimum).

I have a beautiful '51 Bowman Mantle that was in an old GAI 5 container (purchased on here many many years ago in fact). I tried crossing it to PSA in the GAI slab with a minimum grade of 4, and it would not cross (minimum grade not met). I then decided to crack it and submit it raw to PSA, and it came back a 5.
