Beware the bubble...beware the bubble!!!

I've put the breaks on buying for a while, don't see these prices being accurate in the future.

I don't think you're going to see a bubble burst on these Ruths. Sure, they're going up, but nothing like the percentage increases on some modern stuff.

I bought a PSA 4 144 Ruth in 2008 for $2,000 - it's obviously much higher than that now, but it hasn't gone up exponentially in the past year the way Jordan and other modern cards have. Has it doubled in the past year? Sure - maybe even 3x. But how many other cards are 10x - 20x from their prices of a year ago. So I don't see any decrease coming for any Ruth cards.

There is a decent looking 2 of the 144 up on ebay for 8k. If you were willing to pay 6 for that psa 1, the 2 is a bargain (not my card).

It is. I saw a PSA 1 1962 Aaron that went for nearly $200. Makes no sense. I am not sure whether to be sorry I didn't buy some of my target cards or happy for the ones I have.

I can’t get over these Ruth prices. At this point I think I need to come to terms with the fact that this is now a card like the 52 Mantle or even 51 Bowman Mantle that I have missed the boat on and need to get over.

Just kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on it years ago. I never really thought I’d be able to own a nice Mantle but I always assumed I’d have the Ruth. But at some point it’s just not feasible.

I'm sure for most it's both. I sold a few cards a few months ago that I obviously wish I had back now. I had always planned to add a 52 Mays, among others, that have really exploded. Never got around to it. But I am grateful I was able to add what I did this past year and earlier.
