Ok, how about Max Surkont striking out 8 consecutive batters? It stood until it was broken by Tom Seaver in 1970 with 10 in a row.

Believe it or not he did, the first player in MLB history to be hit by a pitch twice n the same inning by different pitchers. It has happened twice since, the first Frank Thomas and Brady Anderson.
