SPMIDD...You need this "First Game" 16x20 (sorry for the poor pic) to accompany your Pete Rose "Last Game" photo! Nice items.

Awesome! Glad you located one. I picked up mine at the National when a dealer was wholesaling some large format photos...got it crazy cheap. The thing I love about that first game photo is the look on Pete's face...the other guys are merely taking the field, business as usual, and Pete is just about to crap himself with excitement! Lol
Congrats man...That is going to make one fantastic "bookends" display of Pete's career! Glad my post made you aware of it. I look forward to seeing them together when you get them displayed...hope you post an updated pic! |

It is funny that you mentioned Pete's face because that is the first thing I noticed too. I will definitely post a picture when I get it hung. Thanks again.

Wow, I can't believe that it's been almost 2 years since anyone has posted anything new on this great Cincinnati Reds thread.
Time to pump some life into this bad boy! I'm very excited to have recently added this October 2, 1938 Ernie Lombardi Testimonial Dinner Program to my 1938 Vander Meer showcase. The program is signed by Vander Meer that was in attendance as well as Ernie Lombardi on the inside cover. Check out the small Ernie Lombardi catcher dangler on the front of the program. In addition to catching Vandy's historic back-to-back no-hitters in 1938, "the Schnozz" also won the NL batting title with a .342 batting average. Lombardi, considered by many to be perhaps the slowest runner to play in the major leagues, had a HOF worthy 17 year career that featured a .306 batting average. Impressive considering that you know that all of these were clean hits, not little infield dribblers! Anyway, this program joins my Johnny Vander Meer Day program from 2 weeks earlier. Enjoy and Happy Holidays to everyone on net54! Last edited by Scott Garner; 12-14-2022 at 08:57 AM. |
