I watched that Johnson video on another platform (sadly I can't remember where). There was something done to the audio speed, he doesn't actually sound like a chipmonk!

I should add the obvious. Thank you for sharing that video, it's fantastic. Based on the way he hit at 59, he would have been a sight to behold in his prime.

WAAAAAAAY Cool! Thanks for sharing!

I was expecting a stronger accent! Was I hearing things or were most everyone calling him "JOHN" instead of Honus? (Or Hans or Honnie?)

Was this filmed in Los Angeles at Wrigley Field ? The house over the left field wall looks the same as the TV Home Run Derby field .

I think you're right! It's definitely in Los Angeles, and Wrigley Field would be a logical place for a major league team to be training. It does look like Wrigley, including when Wagner is coaching third.

It definitely is Wrigley Field before the ivy on the wall.

Yes, they were saying John. His actual first name is Johannes, wuth John being his nickname.

That was really cool. You always hear so much about his name and his German ancestry, etc., that I never expected him to sound so thoroughly run-of-the-mill American like that. Awesome!! Thanks for posting it.

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.

The catcher has zero fear that Wagner won’t put the ball in play - no chest or shin guards!

This is gold. (Would love to hear more about the Walter Johnson clip references above.... any tips where to find that?)

Yes, I was a little surprised by that. I was also surprised that Paul Waner kept shouting "Wooo."

It's weird, in watching his movements, especially with those unusually long arms, I really got a strong Robin Williams vibe off of him. Would've been an easy casting session if they had decided to make a Wagner bio-pic 20 years ago.
