Not seeing the Bastian thing other than it's a guy in a coat.

And a hat

But I do agree with you. When I look at T206s and their original images, they are often quite accurate (even after the artist takes some creative license). If I give this photo/card that treatment there are a lot of differences before you even get into comparing specific facial features.

Consider the location of his ear, for example. In the photo, his ear rises above the bottom of the hat. In the card, the ear doesn't make it to the bottom of the hat, and more hair is visible.

Anyway, the photo still does make me think of that specific T206, but I sure don't think they are the same guy.

Richard.

I do but still haven't heard back from the consignor to get permission. Hall of Fame couldn't identify it though they agree it is likely a baseball player.

Scott, sorry to kill this thread if that's what I do here, but...

The thread title reminds me of this joke.

A pirate walks into a bar.
The bartender asks him, "why do you have a wheel in your pants?"
The pirate says, "Arrr, it's drivin' me nuts!"

Sorry.

You did lol, but I am bringing it back to life. Since another photo ID thread won't seem to just die even though he's TELLING us who it is so I'm not even sure of the point of that one.

I have no idea who it is but this sort of stuff is part of what makes collecting fun.

That coat...to paraphrase Al Czervik: "Geez, that's the worst looking coat I've ever seen. You buy a coat like that you oughta get a bowl of soup...but on you it looks good."

My favorite one like this was a cabinet card listed for sale as a boxer's photo with nothing more:

It is lightweight champ and HOFer Benny Leonard in a ca. 1920 mounted photo.
