So this is the first time I can post in this section, and I'm really excited. Here's a little thread about me saying I wanted to get started in pre-war and T206s and asking for advice.
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=285990 And today, I got this in the mail. It's not in the greatest shape, and I've never heard of the guy. But it's my very first T206, and now I can look him up and do some research about him. Going forward, I hope to get cards closer to Ex condition as I'm not a big fan of creases, rounded corners, etc. By the way, this came in with another lot I bought. I didn't buy this particular card. It was in a larger lot with 3-4 graded cards, some 70s-80s star base and some 1990s star base and inserts that I bought on Blowout for $50. ![]() |

Thanks Ryan, no real story. Showed up on ebay, purchased and card was delivered. Kind of anti-climatic though I was nervous someone would try to intervene.

I still remember the 1st 2 pre-war cards I ever got were gifts from my father. A 1933 Goudey Pepper Martin and soon afterwards a T206 of the mustachioed John Titus! I have a soft spot for those 2 cards ever since. Ollie Pickering is actually a pretty solid player. He had a long Major League career and was teammates at various times during his career with a young Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, and in 1897 with a young rookie for the Louisville Colonels named Honus Wagner!

It’s a wonderful card. Considering how low the graded population is, it’s surprising that you can pick them up relatively inexpensively. The fact that Ruth isn’t identified by name definitely keeps the visibility low. The image used is the same as the 1929 Shonen Club postcard where Ruth is identified. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by IgnatiusJReilly; 08-07-2020 at 10:38 PM. |

"The moment that Babe Ruth, hailed as the world home run king, swings his bat with all his might. It looks like the ball quickly flew over the fence for a home run, as the catcher and umpire look up and the Babe's face beams with pleasure. The fans packed in the stands watch awestruck." |
