Yes it is Ken Hubbs without a doubt. Probably an Elder card, the number matches up with his "set" number for Hubbs, but it is a different photo. On the signature I would post this in the autograph section and ask for the expert opinion over there. Elder's "set" is attributed to 1966 which would make it impossible for Hubbs to have signed it, but I don't know how they came to the conclusion the set is from that year...I suspect he put those cards out over a number of years.

I posted this in the pickup thread, but so excited to add the team RPPC to go with my "in action" RPPC. Watsonville Pippins.

I picked up this PC of the 1927? Portsmouth Truckers team from the Richard Merkin collection in the very recent Hake's Auction. If this is the 1927 team, its player-manager at age 41 was Zinn Beck (who sold his Zinn Beck Bat Co. in 1927). Beck, in his only year with Portsmouth, led the team to the Virginia League championship in 1927. If this is the 1927 team and if Beck is in this pic, I would guess he's the only one in uniform that is not wearing a baseball cap. I'n not much of a researcher, and my Google search didn't turn up any pics that I was able to match to the PC. Can anyone identify Zinn Beck as being in this PC?

@ValKehl: Judging from this photo I would say Zinn Beck is the man in the suit.

Richard, I think you may have nailed it - thanks. I do see a resemblance. Until now, I hadn't even considered the man in the suit. Because Zinn Beck played in 97 games as the player-manager, I assumed he'd be one of the guys in uniform and the guy in the suit to be the team owner or GM.
