My scanner doesn't work very well with slabbed cards as can be seen with this example but one thing I was told on here to get better scans is to scan with the lid up in a dark room. For slabbed cards, and even top loaded cards, from what I understand, a CVV scanner is the only way to go. Many threads exist here on this site talking about different scanners and techniques for better scans. Do a Google search but put in net54 after your inquiry as I find that way better than using the search function here.
