Default Fun thread

Hi Tim,

Tim N. here - the 1939-40 Reds were my entree into prewar card collecting - I had an uncle near Cincy who gave me his W711s and his scorecards when I was about twelve. I don't have anything like your memorabilia, but I have a few things I will try to post when I can get them scanned.

You're welcome to email me directly at apspr@msn.com, since you and i may be the main board people interested in this team, LOL.

In the meantime, here's one of my card White Whales that I looked for for decades and finally got a few years ago.

Awesome! I've never seen this one. I had a hard time tracking down Bill McKechnie. There just aren't very many W711s out there.

As for board members who enjoy this era of the Reds, I know there are more. There are some awesome Vander Meer pieces over on the more generic Reds thread.

That's also a cool Orcajo postcard. Nice items. Thanks for sharing!

Tim, it's nice to see what a Wes Livengood card looks like. I was wondering if it was just a rumor — I tried to find an image on Google just the other day and came up empty. If I had a time machine, my first stop would be Crosley Field in 1940. Here are a few cards and snapshots from that era in Cincinnati ...

Those are great auto snap shots. Those are so unique and beautiful. Truly one of a kind!

I found a new addition for my w711 set last night, Frenchy Bordagaray. Not the cleanest card, but it's better to have one rather than none! And it was $15. Sometimes ebay sellers go crazy with w711 prices.
