I agree, just assume I like it all even though I may not say it every time. Same goes for you too Mark.

Day 137 (May 16, 2020 – 137)

Brooks enjoyed playing golf. I have a few items related to golf, and I’ll post a couple today. First, we have a celebrity golf tournament, The Bryant Gumbel Celebrity Golf Tournament, held on May 3rd and 4th 2001.

Second, we have a picture of Brooks playing golf (sort of...).

I appreciate all the kind words about my collection....A highlight of my day (particularly during these times) is to see everything posted here (it's opened my eyes a lot).

Here is Bill Ripken's 1987 Rochester home jersey that I promised to post the other day:

Thanks. I think that the great part of this thread, is that while we all collect Orioles items, the focus of our collections is all different. I've seen many items being posted that I don't personally collect, but still find very interesting. The stories behind some of the items just adds to the enjoyment each day. It's probably impossible, but would be great to get everyone together in person someday. Spring training in Sarasota???

Default Sunpapers Scorecards

In the 1950's and 60's, it was common for local papers to provide scorecards to it's readers. I assume, many people used them to keep score while listening to games on the radio.

The Baltimore Sun issued two styles over the years. The first style was more like a booklet that could be used to score many games. They weren't dated, but the covers varied over time.

1960's Sunpapers Scorebook #2.jpg 1960's Sunpapers Scorebook #3.jpg

The second type were scorecards for individual games and included rosters on the back. They were printed from 1960-67. The covers didn't change much over the years. There were some color changes, but often the best way to determine the year are the rosters on the back. Since rosters changed during the summer, most years have a variety of backs. I posted a scan of two different 1965 backs. A friend of mine went through all of the Orioles roster moves each year and can actually give you the date range from each back.

Mark....Nice Brooksie Golf pieces

My golf related items are limited however I have been volunteering at Vi Ripken's "Diamonds in the Rough" Golf Tournament for years. This all female tournament is held annually in the Spring (canceled this year due to COVID unfortunately) for the benefit of the areas Boys & Girls Clubs.

Men volunteer as Hole Tenders and when the tournament first started we were all given name tags (like Bill R. needed one lol).

We last went in 2017 & stayed in Bradenton and we were able to see the Orioles three times (looks like one of those games was on St. Patrick's Day lol).

I'm thinking that in 2021 we're due to head down again:

OK, last post of the day....That photo I posted of Buck and myself reminded me of this game used minor league bat of his from when he was playing with AA West Haven in the late 1970's.

I had him sign it at one of the Fan Fests I attended and he was blown away that any of these bats still existed only because they were given so few of them:

After doing the post-game show, Ric graciously took a few minutes to BS and sign his 1977 game used alternate orange jersey I just happen to have in my book bag. Yes, that is a trash container he is using as a table.

Actually, after Dempsey completes the O's post game show, he normally heads for his restaurant on Eutaw Street. Figured I'd bring the jersey that night to see if I could get it signed.

Thanks Clint, it certainly seems like you have a few of everything and more. Awesome collection!

When it comes to Jersey's, I mostly gravitate towards the GU flannel, can't resist the laughing bird patch. Just picked up a '56 Jimmy Dycks home gamer from the Heritage Auction last weekend. Should have it this week, I'll post picks. I'm trying to accumulate one game used flannel jersey, both home and away from each year beginning in '54.

That's a really nice looking orange alternate jersey. He has a great looking signature as well so that makes it even better.

Mark...that's a real unique photo of Brooks with his bat in his back pocket!

Here is a 1978 rookie season alternate top of Gary Roenicke along with a signed 1982 Adirondack game used bat:
