I wouldn't object to Barnes, although he would probably have to go in a a contributor/founder since he didn't play 10 years. I wouldn't have a problem with Doc Adams either. I think he deserves it. I thought he would probably be elected the last time he was up and was surprised that didn't occur.
As for players, my number one candidate for consideration is probably Jim McCormick. He's one of the biggest WAR guys not yet in and had a pretty fantastic 10 year run. Bobby Matthews, Tony Mullane, Tommy Bond, Jack Glasscock and perhaps Harry Stovey also come to mind. I don't know whether to consider Bill Dahlen as a 19th Century player or not since he essentially split his career between the late 1800's and early 1900's. However, he is right up there with McCormick IMO. |
