One of my favorite artworks with unique composition, and an interesting pose/background color. And still (until now) has not been posted. Because it is one of my favorite commons I have multiples, and I thought I would have a little overlapping fun with them (try that with graded cards).

Default Art Fletcher

Art Fletcher started off as a utility infielder for the NY Giants in 1909. Art was quite a character and a fan favorite. John McGraw was impressed with
his play and made Art their regular Shortstop in 1911. Art was an excellent fielder and played Shortstop till he retired in 1922.
Then in 1926, Miller Huggins persuaded Fletcher to take a coaching job with the NY Yankees. Art was the Yankees 3rd base coach from 1926 - 1945.

According to a great article written by Mike Piazzi of SABR Research: Clancy turned down many opportunities to play in the majors (including A's and Cubs)........................... His reasoning:

xclancy.jpg

"What is the use of going to the large league when I can get more money in the Eastern League? What I am playing for is the money. If I can get the money I want I will play ball anywhere, and if I do not I will play ball where I can get the best salary.”
