Default Whoa

Did y'all see where these ended? 2 of the Mantle's went for over $7800. Does Sir Raffles rake in that kind of dough? Congrats, Phil. I don't think anyone can call these broders now...Rob

Default Banty cards

Am I missing something? These are modern day cards. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, they should not have any "real" value

In my opinion those listings were terrible. They just call them 1952 cards and make no mention that they're "art cards" or "fake cards". The custom psa slabs are misleading as well. I'm guessing there's some wealthy noobs getting taken (or the two morons in the bidding war won't actually pay for them). Without those bidders these two $7800 cards could have sold for $73 and $122.50. I don't believe anyone would actually pay that much for these if they know what they are.

Default A Star is Born

Contemporary artists can make a lot of money. See Jeff Koons.

This.

More cases of clueless money hiding that will continue up to the election. These will be coming back, if they get paid for. Stay tuned for the sequel.

This is always my issue with undated “art cards”. I do appreciate that Banty Red at least does not masquerade under the guise of using a real vintage brand to assist in fleecing newbies. That one really drives me.

So the player images and the team logos are licensed?

Dan, I don't own any of these cards. I don't have to defend the product. I don't see any difference from Warhol using the Monroe images for pop-art. If new Topps cards can sell for hundreds of thousands, why not 7800 for these? If I'm supposed to feel sorrow for a great-nephew of a deceased player, who wants a cut from Banty Red, well, I suppose I could be hammered for that. Rob

Not attacking you, I just thought that the definition of a Broder was that it was unlicensed.

That's fair, Dan. I probably had too much coffee this morning. I need to go for a walk. I really don't have any business commenting so much in this thread. Cheers, Rob

Is there a prewar card or discussion anywhere in this thread?

Thought I would help out...discuss all the names on this vintage card. Do any of the players inked on there look like Heilmann?
