He was traded for Patsy Dougherty and, during his first year as a regular player for the Boston Red Sox, he became their manager. He played the second half of the 1908 season for Washington and posted an OPS+ of 139. Five years after leaving MLB, he was supervising repair work on a locomotive when he was killed in an industrial accident. He was 35.

. . . is about the only noteworthy observation that can be made regarding his career. He played 3B and proved that even in the dead ball era playing for Washington you couldn't last long hitting below .200. He had a little speed, which allowed him to accumulate a career WAR of 2.1 despite an OBP of .280.
