They’re c.1912 hat band tobacco premiums. These were removed from a handkerchief someone had made from them so they’re cut down a bit.

Never seen them before. Have any pictures of a complete one?

Hey, WELCOME BACK BROCK!
Perhaps you never left, but that was the first I've seen you post in a looooong time! Fantastic collection of Hat Bands. Those are so scarce... I bet yours is the most complete collection of them to exist. My computer screen is crappy and my eyes are getting old and tired. So I can only make out the Tigers and Cubs. Can you post a more close-up photo that clearly shows them all? That's fantastic that you have so many displayed together.

Hank:
I still recall a Mastro Auction in which they had 3 of these (listed as individual lots), and all three sold in excess of $2K. In retrospect, maybe they were shilled up to that level, but who knows? Regardless they are very seldom-seen. I only have the Athletics, and it's actually still attached to a vintage Straw Hat (Connie Mack style...)

Haha I’ve never left Mark. Still plenty active in buying. Just have gotten lazy about posting new pickups or contributing anything to the board. But I was excited about these and wanted to show em off a bit. I’ve had these for probably 5 years or so now but never really knew what to do with them or how to display them. Was also holding out a sliver of hope that the Red Sox and/or NY Giants version popped up somewhere and I could add those to the group. As far as I can tell those are the only other two teams known and this is the first of the Cubs, Tigers, Cards, and pirates to turn up. As I mentioned, when I got them they were stitched into a handkerchief and have been trimmed down a good bit. But otherwise they have great color and look remarkably well for their age.

Beautiful straw hat. Wish I had one. Might even wear it.
