Default Bob Leffler Drawings

Today, I offer up some drawings I know a little about, but would be interested if those from the Baltimore area know more about them.

I have five drawings of Orioles players from 1978-79 done by artist Bob Leffler. I know there are more out there, but don't have any kind of checklist. In one of the Orioles 1978 programs is an ad for his art. It looks like the ad is for original color drawings. Mine are not original drawings, but look to be produced for resale. They are B&W, dated and on regular 8 1/2" x 11" paper.

Anyone with more info, a checklist or have any for sale, let me know.

Here are the five I have - Al Bumbry, Rich Dauer, Mike Flanagan, Brooks Robinson and Ken Singleton

I believe I have the Brooks example packed away somewhere. Mine, like yours, is not an original drawing, but a print of the drawing. Personally I wasn't crazy about the drawing style so didn't try to pursue any others.

Wow. There are more than I realized. Could you post the list, plus year? Do you have any duplicates for sale?

Thanks in advance for the new information.

A big thank you to Scott (quitcrab) for helping add to my collection of Bob Leffler drawings, now standing at 30. 28 of the drawings are easy to identify, but there are 2 that I would like opinions on, to see if they match mine.

The top drawing is obviously Gary Roenicke, but Scott and I originally though the second drawing to be Larry Harlow (since there is no other drawings of him), but now I'm leaning towards this being a second drawing of Roenicke. He did use a face mask on his helmet at one point, while I don't remember Larry Harlow using one. Thoughts???

Roenicke, Gary (Batting).jpg Roenicke, Gary (Repairing Helmet).jpg

We have narrowed the last drawing down to either Dave Ford or John Flinn. I thinking John Flinn (no mustache). Again any thoughts??

Default Rawlings Advisory

Day 39 (February 8, 2020 – 039)

I’m unsure why, but I really like the setup on these 8x10 Rawlings Advisory photos even if it’s not Brooks. Brooks has a few of these photos and this one is a favorite. Scott (quitcrab) posted four of these Rawlings photos and I thought we needed to see this one again (post #381).

1960’s Rawlings Advisory photo.

Scott (quitcrab) has an example of a Rawlings Advisory photo that I had never seen before; I’m glad he pictured it on this thread for all to see. Scott, maybe just a shot of the one of a kind Rawlings photo by itself?
Since we’ve already seen this Rawlings premium photo I’ll go ahead and picture another dugout shot of Brooks. I don’t think this snapshot is from 1969; the writing on the back states, September 11, 1966. The Orioles played the Twins in Metropolitan Stadium this day and the O’s “almost” came out on top.

I really like that design, too. Clean.

Default Orioles Postcards

There has been some interest in the Orioles team issued postcards, so I'll periodically post some examples from my collection. Today, I'll highlight the set from 1962 that does include Brooks Robinson. The checklist is below. I'm still missing the Ron Hansen and both Wes Stock variations. If you have them, I'm interested.

Alan,

Very nice! I don’t see the 1962’s very often. What are the most difficult year postcards?

Mark,

That's an interesting question. The most difficult postcards for me are the ones I still need. LOL

The B&W issues from 1954-1969 are definitely harder to find than the color postcards from 1970 to present. Postcards from 1954-1956 are toughest to find. However, within each year from 1954-1969, there are easier and harder players to find. Most likely, the popularity and time spent with the Orioles contribute to the scarcity of certain postcards. Players often used them to answer fan mail request.

Here are a few in my collection that are on most Orioles PC wantlists.

1954 "printed" postcard of Vern Stephens. There are 10 different known and this is the only one I have. These are much harder than the 1954-56 glossy postcards in my experience.

1954 Postcards 02.JPG

1954-55 Glossy RPPC of Tom Gastall. There is also a portrait pose of Gastall, that is near impossible, and a 1956 with the same kneeling pose, that I also have, with 012 stamped on the back.

195455 Postcards 06.jpg

1963 Steve Dalkowski

Mark,

That’s a really nice snapshot of Brooks. How many snapshots do you have of him?

I do have quite a few, but not all of them are in uniform; if fact most of them aren't in uniform. Some I have are from events he attended and such. Through the years of collecting these have been fun items to pick up along the way. Now, when found, they are getting a tad expensive (at least for snapshots) for the nice shots.
