Default Orioles 1971 Japan Tour

While we are on the Orioles 1971 Japan Tour theme, here are a few ticket stubs from the tour. I posted a few publications a couple of days ago. Not knowing Japanese, my guess is they are from Oct 24, Oct 27 and Nov 14.

Default 1971 Tour of Japan

Alan,

Really like those tickets; look like neat items to collect. Be fun to collect all 18 games. Of course I’d have to at least get ONE first

I saw a poster advertising the ‘71 tour, but came up short on the bidding. Basically it was similar to the format of the ticket with the pitcher (Palmer).

Yeah that 71 Japan tour produced some great looking items. The 1971 Orioles AL championship ring is one beautiful item to behold and it mentions the series on it. Wish I had one. Great tickets and magazines guys.

Clint,

I agree; great looking ring. Also, the watch that they produced for the '71 tour is not bad either.

I love seeing all of the Orioles Japan tour memorabilia. The 1984 tour produced some fun stuff as well.

And apropos of nothing, here's an Orioles group ticket sign-up poster from 1985 featuring Cal and Eddie. This example came from a Bendix employees night out.

If I remember right, Pat Dobson threw a no-hitter during the Japan tour. A ticket from that game would be nice.

I don't think I've ever seen the poster.

Mark,

I love that poster. Looks like it might have been issued for the game on Oct 27th, as opposed to the series in general.

Mike & Bill,

Those are some great tickets and misc items from the 1984 Tour of Japan. For some reason that magazine is off the charts cool looking. I need one of them!!

I should of went higher on the poster. In the scheme of things it didn’t go for a lot of money. If I ever have the opportunity again I’ll go all out on it (as long as I have the money at the time ).

You are correct. Pat Dobson threw a no hitter while on the ‘71 tour of Japan.

Does anyone have a list and the outcome of the 18 games played in Japan?

Mark:

The 1972 Orioles Media Guide had a pretty good write up on the Japan Series from the previous Fall

This thread has way too much information overload. By the time the new season rolls around, I may be forced to drop the Mets and become a Birds fan. I am so confused...
