Default Why is there no talk or card posting of Joe DiMaggio?

I would agree that Joe D has slipped a bit in popularity from when I first learned about baseball in the 1980’s. Based on what I heard of him as a kid, I would have probably told you he was one of the top 5 players ever, or something like that. I wonder how much of that was due to his insistence on being introduced as the “greatest living ball player” anytime he did anything public?

DiMaggio was a great player. If he's slipped in popularity it's more than likely due to the modern fan not having seen him or probably even knowing who he was. I remember back in the 90s, I don't remember who it was, there was a player who was PLAYING FOR THE YANKEES, who hadn't heard of him. Sad.

When DiMaggio was voted the greatest living player, he had only been retired for about 18 years. Those involved in that vote knew very well who he was. Of course, that title, is completely subjective, as there were many other great players. Add onto that, that players for the Negro Leagues weren't even considered.
