Never received mine. I was out of town during Thanksgiving weekend, and wonder if I got porch-pirated??? Bet they were disappointed!

From my perspective, this is one of the slowest REA auctions ever, at least to this point. Eleven of the twenty nine lots I consigned have no bids. Of the lots I have bid on, most have not moved in days. Perhaps that will change after Heritage and Leland’s end.

I think this is an almost certainty. Crazy busy auction week(s) with loaded auctions. But always makes me feel better when my consignments have at least 2 bids headed into extended bidding. Always hoping for bidding wars! Except for the things I want of course!

I was looking at an item in Heritage and was a low under bidder. Totally forgot about it. Last time I looked it was like 4K. Was shocked this am to see it sold for near 20k with the juice. I think bidding habits have changed a great deal. People don’t run things up and hold their powder. Seems like 75% of bidding on high end items now comes last 36 hours.

The only reason to check your existing bids prior to the final day is to see how many people you are likely to be up against. But it has little bearing on where the item will land, or whether the winning bidder of the moment has any chance of his bid holding up. It's been the same for many years now, and is perplexing how many people still seem to be surprised by the certainty of late bidding. It is more an inevitability than an anomaly. Is it just me or does this PSA7 Thorpe have a spot of paper loss between the “O” and “R” in “SPORT” on the front? Last edited by oldjudge; 12-06-2019 at 06:23 PM. |
