Default 1919 Elmer Miller Yankees contract

Got my winning from Clean Sweep today and nothing short of amazing. For those of you who are not aware of Elmer Miller, he was my great great uncle who played for the Yankees in the teens and early 20’s. He was a team mate if Babe Ruth and played center field in the 1921 World Series. He is literally the first Yankee to get a hit in a World Series and Scored the first run in a Yankees World Series. I of course had to touch the signature as my distant relative had touched there. Would love to know where the contract has been and history of it’s travels.

Very intersting, man. Always cool to hear about some family history! Have you been looking for something of his or did you just stumble upon this?

Congratulations on the pickup. It looks like a real beauty. Is that Jacob Ruppert's signature?

$450.00 a month. Doesn’t sound like much but remember it was 1919.

Weird thought but the contract is 100 years old this year. I hope I look as good at 100.

I plugged that $450 a month into an inflation calculator, and it translates to $6,678.70 a month in 2019 dollars.

Awesome that you were able to pick up an item with a family connection.

I did the same calculation but that number does not take into account what happened with sports salaries in the 90’s to current. If I recall the MLB minimum is close to over $500,000
