An old friend of the variation thread was very gracious to send me a scan of his 58 Topps Dave Jolly print error card that fits in next to the 58 Enos Slaughter print error, now it looks like the card below Jolly, #189 George Susce, is probably affected with the missing black ink print flaw.

Looks like a 90 Topps Frank Thomas situation. Great find!

This one is not pre-1980, but I just discovered this in my McGwire box over the weekend. I know for a fact that it is reoccurring because I have 2 of these that are identical. I was just wondering if anybody knew how scarce it is, if at all. I do know that I searched Ebay and COMC and could not find another. Here it is.

Not a print variation/error. But some kind of inventory label that got on the sheet before cutting, collating and packaging.

I've never seen anything like that before. It's one of the cooler cards I've seen.

So this post motivated me of taking a picture of a similar card. It is from 2007, when Topps was making a bunch of Mickey Mantle cards. This one I pulled from a pack myself. The two interesting things about this card:
1. There is masking tape on the front of it.
2. The card is torn about a third of the way through where the tape is.

Here are the pictures:

I went and took pictures of just my Yankees errors. Not a lot of cards, only six cards in total. Only one is pre-1980, it is this 1976 Jim Hunter:

I collect error cards of all sorts, including severly damaged, modified and defaced cards. BUT most of them are post 1980, so should I end up posting them into here, make a thread similar to this in the Modern Baseball cards section, or just make a thread for my own pictures? There is a lot of post 2000 content in this collect, including a lot of hockey cards.

We have had several post 80 variants in this thread but given the length of this thread it might be good to have a post 80 sister thread. Others may think otherwise.

That tape job is interesting. Maybe since the tape was added before insertion in the pack it qualifies as an intentional change to the card and thus a true variation
