Edited to add- Al is one of the best in the hobby. I am thankful for him and his integrity. That is specifically for the op. Al is good stuff. Sorry if you disagree but the evidence is not on your side.

I hate cards. I hate the hobby. I'm in to the hilt and the MAJORITY are scam artists. The intelligent discussions are on BO, where they show you exactly how it is being done . It is a huge syndicate and EVERYONE IS INVOLVED, IMHO. The have ruined the hobby. PERIOD

Chuck, I understand and share your frustration but if you hate cards and the hobby why keep on posting on a card hobby forum? Why not take a siesta unless you think these posts will affect some meaningful change to make it a hobby you like again?

Yes, I do think they will lead to meaningful changes if enough people would STOP doing what isn't working...That is my hope. Much like "I hope" the Dodgers are going to win another WS in my lifetime. Probably aint gonna happen.

LOTG just concluded a great auction... And to Eric's point, let's look at the positives (which still outweigh the negatives by about a 10 to 1 ratio...)

Leon, that was a tremendous pickup on the Forbes Field Tri-fold PC. Just a stunning piece with great clarity... I might've driven the price up on you, had I not just won something in REA, and was chasing something else in LOTG.

I just saw this thread in the last hour or so for the first time.

Having read through it, my main thought is :

Too bad the OP didn't notice these issues more than a couple hours before the close of the auction.


If he had, maybe before there were too many bids on the items (I haven't checked how many bids either item received), MAYBE the auction house would have pulled the items, and maybe that would have been best.

But, as others mentioned, if I were a bidder (I was not for either item), I would have preferred the method that the AH took of contacting each bidder and giving them the opportunity to withdraw their bid(s).

At this point, it seems to me that there are no victims in what happened, only willing participants, so it seems like moving on is the best course of action.

As to comparisons to other situations, don't get me started, we all know I have a potty mouth.

I’ve been a part of multiple auctions where problems have arisen on the last day (or last minute) where we have either gone forward or ended the lot. That is due to numerous factors pertaining to both the consignor and bidders. Such problems are not fun particularly when your best efforts will get slammed on a public message board - not by the bidders themselves, but some observer who has an agenda of their own.

We discussed this before, Chuck. If you hate the hobby and will always hate it then go do something that makes you happy. Life is too short and your shit to equity ratio on our forum is becoming lopsided. We Pmd about this before and you said you would tone it down some? We all know there is fraud in the hobby and it is being talked about investigated, which is good.
But we also like to talk about fun things too. I would rather see positive talk about cards and collections but I am only one vote. That doesn't mean the other fraudulent stuff is being kept secret or squashed. No threads have been deleted and only a few moved, out of quite a few, concerning the fraud.

Here is a Forbes tri fold I picked up last night in LOTG....It went below my max bid too!
