WHen I first got into the hobby the auctions were mostly done on the phone. Those were the days. And with at least one auctioneer, if you were the last call, it was a glorious night.

And then we had Teletrade!!! Best AH ever! Always closed at 10pm sharp and had to make sure I got in on their phone system every night at 9:53PM. Think I built half a Cracker Jack set with them.

Yes, Dan would take bids over the phone on a Friday night only . Also you could mail in your bid , too. But , when I dealt with him, i used the phone all of the time

Non Sport Guy's Do mail in auctions. There is a gentleman named Bob in the Wrapper Magazine Every issue doing sight unseen mail in auctions.

I had no idea mail bid auction we’re still a thing. I think the last time I mailed in a bid I was in middle school, so late 80’s.
