By the way, I love that you named your kid Beckett. Will your next child be named Canseco? ...Hopefully not “PSA”!
My money is on "Brent".

That was certainly a one of a kind collection. I must admit I was surprised when I read you came out ahead selling it off. Glad to see you were able to acquire some nice cards with the funds. I tend to look for the same low to mid grade high eye appeal cards in prewar. Great value for the money.

Also very touching to read about your father and your son; condolences over the former and congrats for the latter.

Thank you so much for sharing. What a breath of fresh air.

Thank you very much Al! As a hobby community, we have had to endure a lot of junk in the past month or so. I think it all will pass before we know it, but in the meantime, I'm happy to hear I provided some relief!

Yes! I think they are some of the best buys out there.

Can i ask how/where you sold the Cansecos? Did you do it slowly? There are hundreds of items in the collection. I was curious how you did it without flooding the Market. Seems like a lot of work to sell of that many items of one player, especially the more obscure and esoteric stuff. And congrats on the new collection. You chose some great cards.

Post #14 give a general description. I own one of Tanners former Canseco cards. He did get it from me originally and then when he decided to sell I had to get it back for my collection.

As mentioned below, here is what I said: "Thanks! I actually wrote a book that talks about how I did it - Confessions of a Baseball Card Addict. But here is the rundown: I hit the supercollectors, then the resellers, then the public. That is a way, way, way dumb downed version, but that's how it happened. "

BUT ... to go more into it, I think it took inside of 6 months to turn a profit. It did take a lot of work, but it was fun trying to "tackle the beast". I had a TON of people saying I would never make my money back, was foolish, etc. so I had a vendetta to prove them wrong It goes to show you if you can sell the world's #1 collection of quite possibly the most hated player in baseball history, you can sell anything

DUDE! I was just thinking about that card, actually. I am not sure if you have been following along on ebay, but 1990 Fleer base cards pop up for sale all the time for stupid amounts of money. I don't think they ever sell, really, but what a strange thing they are doing, targeting that card!
