Wow, I'm guessing most people dropping that much on a watch could care less about a RJ ball, so locating one is probably a bear!

If this isn't expensive enough for your taste. They have a gold band version (instead of rubber) for $23,500!!!

Don't know who Timmy Lawler is? Googled and nothing came up. I paid $39.18 for the ball. That's a good price for a scrap of paper with RJ's name on it.

I would say from a player collector standpoint, that has to be a fantastic deal, but that comment assumes a few things to be true, since a non-OLB of an issue of 100 is nothing special on it's own:

1) The signature won't bleed/fade in time due to poor quality or fake (non-leather) material.

2) The balls were only available by purchasing a watch and not any other way, nor are there any unissued stock. This means, the original purchase price for one is 5 figures and that is the only way one hits the market!

I collect Steve Garvey and honestly have so many signatures that the autograph itself becomes irrelvant, but if there was something like this issued with a Garvey ball, the completist in me would want one. Assuming those facts above, the only way to get one would be to be lucky enough to find one that was sold alone or buy the package (which I would not allow to be within my budget).

I would guess single balls would be incredibly hard to find, because if the original buyer cared enough about the ball itself, they keep the ball. If they don't care, they probably don't bother to try to sell it on eBay so it is tossed in a drawer, maybe given away to a lucky friend/relative or possibly donated. From there, it has to make it's way to be resold again in the right forum to draw a true collector.

However, without the back story to go with it, I would agree that it would probably not be worth the $40.
