Basketball inserts are quite valuable these days as Asian and European collectors are putting a lot of money into that side of the hobby.

Baseball cards don't have the same worldwide desirability, at least cards produced after 1980.

From what I read I was under the impression they weren't that popular at release, and picked up a following a few years later. I did not collect basketball at the time so I don't know either way from any firsthand experience.

I doubt we will see a similar modern set ever match these pmgs in terms of popularity or prices realized.
