I just looked on baseball-reference.com, and I could find only one historical pro baseball team that had a singular name.
The Newark Pepper was a Federal League team in 1915. Their roster included Bill McKechnie, Edd Roush, Germany Schaefer and Ed Reulbach. Steve

If that's not the most absurd major sports team name of all time I will eat my hat. Yeah baby, those Mormon cats can swing and rip it up all night long. . . . (And yes I know where the name came from. It's still incredibly ridiculous.)
