Picked up the Canon recently due to this thread (thanks guys!) and found this guide on another forum. Helps to fine tune the settings.

Thanks everyone. I spent this weekend scanning most of my collection and they look great!

Anyone have some advise on how to get both the front and back of a card to appear to be in one scan? Thanks.

Used to do it on ebay, just take your scans, copy the back scan and increase the "paper size" in your photo editor and paste the back scan next to the front scan.

I'm a Cannon CanoScan 9000F MarkII user. I've only used it at it's default settings since it was perfect. Only thing I change is the DPI for large scans or close-ups. Haven't tried a chrome, metallic, refractor card yet but I'll fool around with it and see if there's a happy setting for them.

To those with a Canon scanner - What app/software are you using to actually operate the scanner - take the scan?

I use Ransen Software and love it. It automatically crops, straightens, scans 6 cards at once and will automatically put borders (your choice of color and thickness) on each scan.
