I did pretty well on my goals this year.

1 almost completed my T205 Cubs reverse set. Have 148/151 so now looking for upgrades

2 completed a T206 Cubs front collection

3 sold my W572 set through Heritage

4 enjoyed my E121-80 and E121-120 Yankees Giants World Series set

2019 goals

Upgrade T205 Cubs collection with better cards

Default 2019 collecting goals

Tough to follow my 2017 pickups.

In 2018, I was able to complete my catcher card run in the T205 set, and I also picked up the last Chief Meyers T202s I was looking for to complete the 10 card subset of different Meyers T202s.

I also picked up all but three of the catchers in the P2 set.

Again modest goals for 2019:

Work on the last three P2 pins I need: Mclean LL, Schmidt LL, Art Wilson (Giants)

Perhaps finish my catcher card run in 1912 Zeenuts: Claude Berry.

Perhaps finish my catcher card run in the 1912 Home Run Kisses: Ralph Kreitz.

Top of the list: 1912 T207 Irving Lewis, Red Munson Old Mill Cabinet, and Johnny Kling Plow Boy Tobacco cabinet.

Happy New Year to all.

Patrick

My '18 Goals:

1953 Topps Set Complete - Bought in April
1952 Bowman Set Not Yet Purchased, but I have made connection and plan to purchase at bonus time in March '19
70's Basketball and Football Sets Purchased '73-74 and 72-73 at the National in Cleveland this year

Also purchased a '64 Topps Giant.
I got a few upgrades that I had been hoping for - '57 Ted Williams, '58 Brooks Robinson, 65 and 66 Sandy Koufax, plus got me entire '53 Bowman Color set upgraded to at least Ex - and I love the way it now looks in the binder.

'18 was the least I had spent on cards since getting back into the hobby in 2012. As the years get older, the sets get more expensive, the conversations about the purchases with the Mrs. get longer, and the trips to the mailbox become less frequent. I really miss the days when I would get 2-3 packages a day. My wife used to apologize to the mail lady.

'19 will be a critical year. If I don't stay diligent and get '52 Bowman and '48 Bowman plus some additional Football and Basketball sets, I will become less and less engaged and I could see the hobby start to take the back seat to life and falling short on my goal of the post war Topps/Bowman/Fleer.

Happy Collecting!

2018 was another good year.
1. Finished my t205 set
2. Picked up several new Clemente cards for my master set.
3. Failed to find a 1914 CJ Wagner that appealed to me, so settled for a 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 7 upgrade.

I will continue to look for Clemente cards and hope to add at least one big "waterfront property" card to my general collection.

Conor - Very impressive, I don't think I have ever seen someone stick to all their goals for the year, nicely done. Focus is a good thing.

It looks like the 4 previous posters all did fairly well with their goals, I love checking things off. I have sold more stuff and bought more stuff in the last year than any year. Sold my CJ set, all my extra CJs, most of my t206s and a couple other items as I started with around 260 cards in the collection. I think I did alright, wallet is just thin though.

1. Finish my pc796 - done and with a couple nice upgrades. Id love to upgrade my Plank, someday.
2. Add the centerpiece to my collection - big check, 1915 Boston PC
3. Add something historic - another big check, 1910 weiser wonder WaJo pc
4. Add something significant from WaJo - check, see #3
5. Keep the budget intact - big fail, see item #1-3

2019 goals
1. Spend no money until POST REA on the hobby
2. Trim the fat and get the collection to 50 cards, sitting on 59 and know the 9 that will go
3. Continue to connect to the hobby through individual correspondence
4. Make the plunge into photos, I really have started to dig them.
5. Read

We need some cards here, like a previous poster mentioned, the packages come with big gaps of time in between...miss those eBay Sunday nights and all the stuff that would come in constantly. Heres my 2019 highlights:

2018 was a total disaster for my collection. My goal has always been to get to 50 unique signed poses of T206 cards. Heading into 2017, I was at 44. All I said was...

In May, I had my "one signed T206 pose" that I didn't already own -- this "Doc" White from the Steiner Auction of Tom Marsilio's TTM autograph collection:

But, of course, the year didn't end -- and my collection took a massive hit when unsigned versions of 4 of those poses were discovered by Manny and the rest of the Net54 investigation team. So, I'm back down to 41.

But I haven't given up hope! For next year, I repeat my standard line...

Way to hang in there after the big investigation. Kudos for that.

I had no goals for 2018 so met them fine.
I have no goals for 2019 so it should be another good year. One think I don't want to do buy things I already have (done a few times) and quit trying to upgrade and failing at it.

Thanks, Steven. I lack a lot of qualities, but focus when it comes to goals isn't one of them. It's so easy to stray in this hobby, but I've found the trick is to stay off the auction sites and not look at catalogs until the auction is over.

Being from Boston, I'm super jealous of that postcard. I saw it in some catalog (forget which one) and started drooling. Kudos on the great addition!
