I have had good success in tapping the sides of holders until the card is straight. I have even been able to rotate an E254 Colgan's Chip that was 90 degrees out of whack until the floating head was rightly uprighted.

Tapping it is fine; but I too have received cards that were under the prongs and damaged/stuck there. But that's probably 2 out of 1000 cards I've had graded by them.
