PSA Old Judges sell for a lot more than their SGC counterparts. In my opinion, this contest is over, PSA wins by a mile.

Where did you hear SGC was closing the gap? From their website?

Without challenging the premise that PSA outsells SGC, i don’t think a comparison between these two auctions is all that informative to support that premise. Some collectors lost out on an SGC 60 Duffy AB 460 in September. Two folks who may have been shut out then decide to bid at the same price level on a PSA 4 of the same card a few weeks later, and wind up at nearly the same exact price. Obviously, the SGC sale was informing the PSA sale, but not necessarily because of the grade differential. Could just be that the same folks want a nice AB 460 Duffy, and the actual grade differential - or even condition differential - was not driving the price.
A better comparison would be the same T206 card in a PSA 4 and an SGC 4 selling in the same auction and ending at the same time.

A great hypothetical experiment would to have the exact same card graded by each company, then photos of the card it the respective holders used for different auction entries and set up like you said (same end time). That way, there is no difference with the card, but we could actually see what the price difference for the flip would be. Not ever going to happen, of course... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
