David Great stuff....thanks for sharing it with us. My Stengel / Mantle story occurred when I was a teenager watching the US Senate hearings in Washington regarding Baseball. Casey "ran circles" around those phony politicians in their daily sessions of questioning him.....Casey was amazing. After days of Casey "taking them to school", the politicians called Mickey to the stand. And, Mickey simply said.... "I agree with everything Casey said" ! TED Z T206 Reference . Hi BruceinGa
Really nice Boston Bees piece. I figure it represents the 1940 team. TED Z T206 Reference . |

And, here's his 1940 Play Ball card.
Casey's career BA = .284 (not too bad). And, definitely a clutch hitter in World Series play...… 1916 WS.....BA = .364 1922 WS.....BA = .400 1923 WS.....BA = .417, RBI = 4, HR = 2 (both were inside-the-park) ![]() ![]() TED Z T206 Reference . 1948 PCL
![]() ![]() Casey Stengel was once described as...."the most uninhibited ballplayer in Baseball". And in my opinion he was a "genius" when it came to playing winning BB. So, how about sharing with us some more Casey stuff. TED Z T206 Reference . |

I'm fairly certain it represents the 1940 team. I cross-checked the players on it with the 1938 - 1943 team rosters of the Boston Bees and the best match was 1940. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Didn't Casey once doff his cap to the crowd as he stepped into the batter's box and reveal a sparrow perched on this crown? And people ask me why I prefer prewar.
