Nice selection Tim. I really like that last game photo with Jeter.

Here's a Nascar pin I have.

IMO the Streak somewhat unfairly defined him. He was a top 5 and possibly a top 3 SS independent of the Streak.

IMO The Streak was only ONE of the things that defined him.

He did change the position of shortstop opening the door for players like Jeter and Arod.

3000+ Hits and 400+ HR i pretty defining.

ROY and 2X MVP says something.

All-Star all but his rookie year.

Multiple Gold Glove and silver Slugger awards.

I do think though that The Streak was the single thing that most defined him amongst the casual fan.

Tim---impressive trove. I do not collect him per se but have all his regular Topps cards, and any of his Topps insert or test issues through 1994. I also have collected Topps Player Tribute issues

To add to the things that you will not find on a Ripken checklist anywhere . . .

Beckett cover printing plates (acquired from Beckett through ebay) that I had Cal sign at the 2010 National in Baltimore.

There is a store in Hampton, VA called "The Tenth Inning". The (previous??) owner is/was a big Ripken fan and had actually issued a publication that chronicled most if not all of his cards and other memorabilia. Though that was some time ago and would not be current as of today.

He may still have some of the pubs available.

I'm pretty sure that I have that.

I do believe that it covered all of the cards, or at least all of the officially issued cards at the time, and a lot of the memorabilia.

As for "some time ago" I think the publication was out in the early 90's before the volume of his cards and memorabilia exploded exponentially.
