Drum Tobacco Labels

Thanks Jon I knew the pouches did not contain cards but was trying to figure the cigarette label fell into the same time period as the pouch label.....Richard please don't go into paper stock because as we have had this conversation before I don't think you realize the time period and the paper stock used can be completely different at times not consistent with today's technology. The envelope is from The American Tobacco Company which they were in wrapped in paper dated in the 1940s I am assuming the collector had written to a lot of the tobacco companies asking for labels or advertising ect because there were several envelopes from multiple companies with different dates on them.

Rich - The Drum tobacco pouches were manufactured over the same period as the cigarette packs, but their distribution stretched beyond the cigarette packs as well. I have seen a Drum tobacco pouch from as early as 1903 (and there may be earlier I guess), and as late as 1920s. It's hard to say when your exactly labels date from, primarily because they seem well preserved from being in the envelope and the fact that they were not used/placed on a product. They could be 1910s.

Thin paper stock would be the wraps for the pouches. Thick paper stock would be possible slide & shell type boxes.

For those interested, this is what the pack for T206 distribution looks like graphically. Similar to that above, but different is a few respects. This pack has a correct factory code and tax stamp.
