a product call Goo Gone works well. Doesn’t damage the holder. Just wipe it off with a clean paper towel when you have finished removing the residue.

WD40 also works well.... give it some time to penetrate, and just massage it in. Sometimes takes a while, but the residue always comes loose.
Then wipe the surface clean. |

I second that. I use WD40 all the time to remove the stickers and residue from any slab. Works every time.
