I enjoyed reading that.
Funny, my father pitched in the Astros system (when they were the .45's) but he never had any interest in collecting. He'd tell me stories about guys he'd faced in the minors when I'd be going through cards and he definitely appreciated the guys like Ruth, DiMaggio, Williams, etc....but he never wanted to collect. One of the coolest things he did have was his minor league contract...I think it was for $300 a month!
