The BST sections are great places for almost all members. There have been some quite high end cards and memorabilia for sale there. Maybe not hundreds of k value, but certainly many for 10k+20k+ in value.
As for an experiment, I might agree with you. But it has a lot of the same eyes as the AH auctions do. Quote:

Leon, I have done at least two $20k+ deals through BST and pulled numerous higher dollar trades, part trade/money, and cash acquisitions. I find BST to be an excellent tool to do all sized transactions
