I tried to sell the card on Ebay and the buyer backed out because he couldn't verify the certification number. My Dad has a handful of cards with this issue but I didn't realize this was one of them until I tried to sell it.

The card is not in a BVG holder.
When Beckett split their grading into two services, BGS and BVG holders, I believe the numbering sequence for the BVGs created the possibility of something like this happening. They should fix it though. Cards with the old low numbers, less than 5 real digits, do not show up on their cert check service. That I have seen.

So you had a valid complaint about their service, and the remedy they offered you was to allow you to buy more of the very service you were complaining about?
THAT is lousy customer service!
