Very interesting. As a young kid growing up in the 1940's, I was fascinated by Van Lingle Mungo's lyrical name.
 Then, in the 1960's a very catchy song titled "Van Lingle Mungo" was composed, the lyrics of which include 36 names of BB players from the 1940's.  1st page of sheet music TED Z T206 Reference .
